One Direction member Liam Payne’s funeral likely to be held next week: Report

Liam Payne, the former member of One Direction who died unexpectedly in Argentina, is expected to have his funeral next week, according to reports. His body is due to be flown back to the UK within the next 48 hours, allowing final arrangements to proceed.
The Sun has reported that Payne’s funeral service may take place at St Paul’s Cathedral in Wolverhampton, with sources indicating that his body could arrive in the UK as early as Wednesday, November 6.
Payne, 31, died on October 16, after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires. Following his death, his body was temporarily held at a British cemetery in the city as officials conducted investigations.
An autopsy revealed that Payne suffered 25 injuries during the fatal fall. Argentinian police subsequently raided the hotel, investigating staff believed to be involved in drug activity.
It is reported that Payne may have acquired drugs, allegedly concealed within a soap box, from hotel employees. Two staff members, including a cleaner, are currently under investigation, with prosecutors suggesting Payne may have been “in a state of semi or total unconsciousness” due to a substance-induced episode at the time of the fall.
Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, recently shared an emotional tribute, revealing the couple had plans to marry next year.
Payne’s death, which occurred on October 16 after he fell from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires’ Palermo district, has been officially attributed to multiple injuries sustained in the fall. A preliminary toxicology report also detected substances, confirming suspicions of drug involvement.
Liam Payne’s father travelled to Buenos Aires shortly after the incident to identify his son’s body and arrange for its return to the UK.
